It’s here, friends.
Today marks the start of the 92nd Howard Wood Dakota Relays, one of the most storied track and field meets in the upper Midwest.
It’s an event that started in the 1920s - 1923, to be exact - and continues to get better and better, with over 3000 individual athletes and 130-plus teams set to compete in Sioux Falls this time...
Track in the Dakotas revolves around three things: the weather (for example, see last weekend in southeastern SoDak), each states' respective state meet, and the Howard Wood Dakota Relays.
As important as state meets are - and you can't discount the lasting significance of a state title, either as a team or individual - there's a case to be made...
Dickinson is the new number one team in Class A and the Midgets are about to be tested by another top 5 team. Plus, we have a pair teams cracking the MidcoSN power rankings for the first time this season.
The winter sports season is in full swing...wait, it's spring right? Check out my latest power rankings, in which we have a new number one in Class A baseball.
The top teams are holding steady, but the busy week ahead might shuffle things up. Here's a look at the latest MidcoSN power rankings for ND high school baseball and softball!
In Class A baseball, things are holding pretty steady at the top. Dickinson is off to a 7-1 start, including a big sweep over Century last week. West Fargo stays put at number two with a 5-1 record against EDC teams. Positions 3 thru 5 get tricky for me, but these teams will sort things out themselves over the next few weeks. Fargo North is on the bubble after sweeping Davies to open the year and knocking the Eagles out of the top five.
