Varsity Sports Now - Baseball Power Rankings (South Dakota Class A&B)

SD Class A

1. Roosevelt                      11-3

Lost to Mitchell 4-3. Chris Phillips is leading the team in AVG and RBI’s. Josh Baumgart, Lucas Wilber and Seth Peterson, Connor Grove are all pitching well.

2. Mitchell                          16-5

One of the teams that can pitch with Roosevelt. Kirby Fuerst has been tough on the mound 0.26 ERA .151 BA Against. Jared Schmidt is one of the premier hitters in class a. His .459 avg with 9 XBH and 25 RBIs puts him in elite company for hitters. Against the Riders they pitched Matt Larson, Derek Miller and Dylanger Pierson and held the Riders to three hits.

3. Washington                   10-4

Beat Brandon Valley on Monday. Jon Hander and Austin Kost are getting better and are ready for a post-season run. This is the time of the year for the aces to take over.

4. Brandon Valley             16-7

Adams is hitting .389 with 4 legit home runs and 32 RBI’s. Lucas Lundstra, Nic Peterson, Cole VanderBeek are all hitting the ball too. Pitching Tommy Gardner and Jacob Brugat are both polished pitchers. The problem is that the Lynx have given up way too many big innings. A combination of poor fielding stretches and downright bad pitching has plagued them from being the best team in the state.

5. Brookings                      11-6

Brookings’ Thomas McMacken has been one of the biggest surprises in the class. He’s driven in 17 runs and has 9 XBH in 16 games. A .700 slugging percentage puts him as one of the most feared hitters in the state. Pair him with Konnor Beste and you’ve got the start of some very good hitting. Trevor Hornig, Skylar Cary, and Jared Tschetter have been solid pitchers while Corey Roach has been holding his own despite a higher than expected ERA (5.35).

SD Class B

1. St. Thomas More         10-1

2. Madison                         9-0

3. Vermillion                      9-2

4. Parkston                         8-1

5. Harrisburg       8-4

Seven wins is a row, they've all been blowouts. Drew Andela hitting .487 with 18 RBI’s and Dalton Allen is on fire as well.
