Andera’s North Dakota Girls Basketball Power Rankings 12-7-11

There's no question in my mind that Minot has the best team in the state when they're all healthy. But right now the best player in the state, Holly Johnson, is recovering from an injury and hoping to solidify Minot's spot atop the state. Holly is a (5-11) post player who is just as comfortable shooting threes as grabbing boards in the paint. In her absence Jayd Eggert has stepped up and has gotten Minot off on the right foot. There are some great young players in Class A that could carry their teams to new heights this year. Juniors Jessica Anderson (Shanley), and Kira Larson (Fargo North) top the list of dominant players with big potential. Mic Longtin is a lightning quick point guard to watch for Mandan as she tries to lead the Braves back as a powerhouse in class A.

ND Girls A

1.       Minot (1-0)

2.       Century

3.       Fargo Shanley (1-0)

4.       Mandan

5.       Fargo North

In Class B people pretty much agree that Central Cass, Grafton and Carrington are the top teams. I think Central Cass has some things to prove with a new coach and a runner-up finish in last season's tournament. Courtney Dixon and Hannah Breske lead a fast-paced Squirrel squad as my team to beat. Most people think Carrington is the favorite to repeat as champs with Becca Sherr and Sierra Rosenau back. Beach is my surprise team to watch, they lose all five starters but have some VERY talented sophomores led by Hailee Farstveet who will make some noise.

1.       Central Cass

2.       Grafton

3.       Carrington

4.       Grant County

5.       Beach
